CISA KEV Alert: Four Actively Exploited Vulnerabilities Demand Immediate Remediation
Palo Alto PAN-OS, Cisco Secure Email Gateway, and Ahsay AhsayCBS flaws hit the Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog — here is what your team must do this week

# CISA KEV Alert: Four Actively Exploited Vulnerabilities Demand Immediate Remediation
CISA has added four newly confirmed, actively exploited vulnerabilities to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) Catalog — affecting Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS, Cisco Secure Email Gateway, and Ahsay AhsayCBS — and has tied remediation timelines to Binding Operational Directive (BOD) 26-04.
What the Advisory Covers
The four vulnerabilities span two major enterprise product lines and one backup platform:
- CVE-2026-0322 — A code injection flaw in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS, the operating system underpinning a large share of enterprise next-generation firewalls.
- CVE-2026-76519 — A relative path traversal vulnerability in the Cisco Secure Email Gateway, a widely deployed mail-security appliance.
- CVE-2026-105133 — An improper authentication weakness in Ahsay AhsayCBS, a multi-tenant backup and disaster-recovery platform.
- CVE-2026-105134 — A command injection vulnerability also in Ahsay AhsayCBS that, combined with the authentication bypass above, could give an attacker full system control.
CISA's evidence of active exploitation means these are not theoretical risks — threat actors are already weaponising them. BOD 26-04 reinforces the KEV Catalog as the authoritative prioritisation signal for Federal Civilian Executive Branch (FCEB) agencies and sets explicit expectations: vulnerabilities that grant total control of a publicly exposed asset after exploitation must be patched on an accelerated schedule, ahead of lower-severity items.
Why This Matters Beyond Federal Agencies
BOD 26-04 is technically binding only on FCEB agencies, but KEV additions carry weight across every regulated sector:
- NIS2 (Article 21) requires operators of essential and important entities to apply patches in a risk-based, timely manner. An actively exploited KEV entry is the clearest possible evidence of high risk.
- ISO 27001:2022 (Control 8.8) mandates documented vulnerability management; an unpatched KEV finding will surface immediately in an audit.
- PCI DSS v4.0 (Requirement 6.3) requires organisations to protect system components from known vulnerabilities by installing applicable security patches within defined timelines — KEV status triggers the shortest window.
- SOC 2 CC7.1 and HIPAA § 164.308(a)(5) both require processes to guard against malicious software and known exploits; KEV entries are increasingly cited by auditors as evidence of a control gap.
- Ahsay AhsayCBS is common in managed service provider (MSP) stacks, meaning a single unpatched instance can expose dozens of downstream tenants — a supply-chain risk that regulators across all five frameworks scrutinise heavily.
What You Should Do in the Next 7–30 Days
Within 7 days: 1. Inventory exposed assets. Confirm whether PAN-OS firewalls, Cisco Secure Email Gateways, or Ahsay AhsayCBS instances are publicly reachable or accessible from internet-facing segments. 2. Apply vendor patches immediately for any internet-exposed instance. If a patch is not yet available from the vendor, implement compensating controls (network segmentation, WAF rules, access restrictions) and document them. 3. Generate evidence. Auditors under NIS2, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS will ask for timestamped proof of your response — screenshots, change-management tickets, and scan results all count.
Within 30 days: 4. Run a full internal scan across your estate mapped against the full CISA KEV Catalog to identify any additional exposure. 5. Update your vulnerability management policy to explicitly reference KEV catalog additions as a trigger for your highest-priority remediation SLA. 6. Cross-map findings to your compliance frameworks. A gap in patch management that touches PAN-OS firewalls likely impacts NIS2, SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, and PCI DSS controls simultaneously.
